Smock London awarded Butterfly Mark certification from Positive Luxury 🦋
We are proud to share that Smock London has been awarded the Butterfly Mark certification from Positive Luxury, recognising luxury brands that meet higher and higher standards for people and nature. This recognition means a great deal to us because it honours what has always been at the heart of Smock London: the craft of hand smocking.
Every Smock London piece begins with the extraordinary skill of the artisans who hand smock each panel, a process that takes patience, precision and years of experience. Our work has always been about safeguarding this heritage craft, reimagining it for the future, and supporting meaningful work for the women who practise it.
To receive the Butterfly Mark, we underwent an expert led independent assessment across Environment, Social and Governance. For us, this recognition reflects the values that have guided Smock London from the beginning: craft, community and care.

“We founded Smock London to safeguard and reimagine the heritage craft of hand smocking for the future. This work has always been about more than beautiful clothing. It is about creating livelihoods for the women who practise this extraordinary skill and ensuring the craft continues to flourish.

Receiving the Butterfly Mark is not an end point for us. It is a commitment to keep improving, measuring our progress and strengthening the way we work. Every two years, we will be reassessed against evolving standards, helping us to stay accountable and keep improving.
